A Case of the Mondays

Downtown Manchester did not look anything like the version shown on my favorite TV show, The West Wing. Elm Street (their version of Main Street) is right over a the river from our hotel and has a lot of nice looking restaurants and bars...but not many storefront campaign NH headquarters. In fact, there were many vacant storefronts on this main strip/business corridor, something that will be on the voters minds come January and November as they head to the ballot boxes.

Ian and I traveled three minutes from our hotel to Gov. Perry's New Hampshire HQ. While I think it would be inappropriate to talk about the office in great detail on the internet, I can say it was located in a very nice office building on Elm Street and was a very nice office space. We met and conversed with campaign staffers, who were very pleasant. They were happy to have us. Gov. Perry was expected to be arriving later in the afternoon, though we might be able to see him on Wednesday after he gives a speech in the New Hampshire Statehouse.

Tomorrow, the entire group will be heading up to Concord, NH and will be spending the entire day there (so no volunteering in Gov. Perry HQ tomorrow--which is too bad because we would have traveled with him throughout the day to his various campaign stops). Tuesday will be an exciting day nonetheless as we meet with Secretary of State William Gardner, long-time NH Republican Party activist Thomas Rath, and dinner at Political commentator Arnie Arneson's house with a bunch of media guests.

As an aside, the weather is shockingly warm--we'll see how long that lasts--and the hotel is very nice.

And to Mr. Little Chief Tunis..."You won't have to, you have a pretty bad poker face."
